It seems like a lifetime ago that I made temples and huts that I could walk into (Early Huts & Temples). In 1997, I left my husband, my ocean, and my 1500 square foot studio a mile across strawberry fields from Monterey Bay in California. I left heart and moved to heart—to Massachusetts to be near my identical twin. A left a big piece of my soul at the Pacific Ocean and mourned it deeply for years. I called it "Mother/Father/Ocean."
Where I lived in CA, I could walk on the beach for five miles and see no one. It was my gathering ground. After my mother died in 2009, I thought I would be able to afford a home near water. I moved multiple times until I found home in 2013 in Colrain, MA.
My studio here is tiny so my work is small but I am finding a new intimacy here. In 2019-2020, I again created temples and huts, also forests, but on a much smaller scale. Always I have incorporated the sacred.
These pieces are one of a kind. If interested in commissioning one, other than those shown here, please contact me.

"Prayer Forest"
Indiscernible in this photograph, there is a strand of crystals that hangs across the branches and hanging from that strand are multiple strands of sparkling white embroidery thread, each a prayer for a loved one. (Please see "Prayer Ties" page for further explanation.)

I found a disassembled crystal chandelier in an antique shop and assembled it all, but it was too mangled to mount on my ceiling. I also had a big cherry tree that had to come down, so I kept a slice of it. Below is what I created out of the two. "Domed Temple."
Except for the forest piece, all of these pieces have tiny LED lights that light the interior.
